Anyone in media who claims they don't know what consumers want should be fired on the spot. If the desire for the free choice and usage of content, ie Napster, YouTube, etc, hasn't made itself crystal clear over the past few years, they are never going to get it. Seriously, how much more torrent traffic needs to fly through the Internet tubes to make an impression on these dunderheads?

Until the ultimate question of ownership of produced content, such as buying a CD or a DVD, receives an answer, instead of the usual burial by committee in Congress or a patented Supreme Court Sidestep (<em>MGM v Grokster</em>), I guess media is going to remain steadfastly clueless.

<!--%kramer-pre%-->take time reading the comments. Nicholas is just worried with the popularity ranking of things... he worries that shitty UGC will take the bulk of attention. It's a sequel of his post about packaging (see my previous post Intermediation is king) Last: Faster Horses and the Fog of 2.0 from Scott Karp [personal note should digg hsi blog// 3 reco from my A-list thks snark] and i will keep the famous quote found at the end of the post from H.Ford : “If I had asked my customers what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse.”<!--%kramer-post%-->
