Five Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me

by Scott Karp

Brian Clark is indeed an effective copywriter as he knew just how to hook me into participating in this “chain blog” of “five things you didn’t know” about me:

1. For five years after college I wrote fiction and payed the bills by teaching test prep courses until I discovered that I wasn’t very good at fiction writing — I’m a bit of a slow learner. But I can get a perfect score on the LSAT even though I never for a moment considered going to law school.

2. I nearly broke my neck falling down a flight of stairs last year — I did manage to break my both my 5th metatarsal and my lateral malleolus — something my orthopedist said was nearly impossible to do.

3. The highlight of my sporting career was playing on the little league all-star team in 5th grade — my hand-eye coordination has steadily declined since then.

4. If I had any musical talent I would have been a guitar player. I do play the guitar but badly. (It’s that coordination thing again.)

5. People I’ve never met often tell me that I look like someone they know.

Now I’m supposed to peer pressure five other people into participating: Mathew Ingram, Rex Hammock, Max Kalehoff, Stowe Boyd, Noah Brier

  • Ah, you're a good sport Scott.

Me too, and it drives me insane.
  • I think this must mean something in a "six degrees of separation" kind of way, but I've already been tagged by the Five Things virus... er, meme -- and wrote my entry here on Thursday.

And for what it's worth, Scott, you don't look like anyone I know :-)
  • Just curious. Were you pushed? Did the shove come from an angry blogger? Thanks for the tagging. Had it not come from you and Jeff Jarvis I think I would have tried to hide out this meme. : )
