I’ve thought for a while that Technorati serves no purpose beyond tracking inbound links and stroking egos. Today, Technorati unveiled the culmination of its ego-stroking strategy — we’re ALL #1 on Technorati:

Check it out before they fix the bug and feel the joy of #1.

Hey Scott - I just started following P2.0 a couple of weeks ago.

    I didn't realize we shared a brain: http://occamsrazr.com/2007/08/04/all-downhill-f...
  • No, WE'RE number one - y'all are just losers ;-)
  • So other people have WILD swings in ranking lately too?

Mine has varied (rank wise) 5000! And the authority 100!

I can't figure it out. It makes no sense to me.
  • Damn :-)
  • Too late. I guess I'll have to content myself with the usual wild and irrational swings between ranking 500 and 4000.
  • I noticed that and thought HUH? I knew they were changing, upgrading whatever and had become PING-unreliable during all this but...this is odd. Thanks for writing about it.

Now can you unravel what it means?
  • That's like one of those photographers you can hire for events who take pictures of people and superimpose them on the cover of a magazine. Knowing Technorati, the bug will stay that way for weeks. Only bloggers will notice -- not real people. :)
  • Geez - and I thought I was special!
    :-)
